Why is it harder to find lactose free milk in the UK than in the US, despite lactose intolerance being more prevalent in the UK?

Hi there,

You can buy soya milk, rice milk, and even almond milk at most supermarketers and health food shops, all of which are lactose free.

I don't know, but I do remember a few years back that an old friend of mine who had been living in Canada for many years returned to the UK, having been diagnosed with a gluten allergy. I remember well what difficulty she had getting gluten free, rice bread. She had to order a supply several days in advance at a pharmacy.
