This is a common refrain you hear when talking to a European. While the ignorance of many people can't be help, there are some genuine Americans who want to know why this image persists. I just want to know in what ways you would expect a person from the US to behave, if you find something intolerable in us.

i've looked at the network card website and it tells me that i can't buy heathrow or gatwick express train tickets but doesn't mention stansted express ones.....the map doesn't show the stansted express line either. however, on the stansted express tickets website it mentions the network railcard discount!!!

Maybe 10 years ago I could see how London is this multicultural, amazing, freespirit, full of oportunities place. My life has improved in those 10 years but my opinion about London is getting wors. I can't find this spark anymore, what is it about London you love/hate and why?

Since the value of a US Dollar is much lower than the value of a British pound, is stuff in the UK more expensive than here in the US? Lets say something here in the US costs $10. If I I buy that same thing in the UK and convert the amount I paid for it in pounds back to dollars, would it still be around $10 or would it be more expensive? It could be totally unrelated to the exchange rate, but Im just wondering how expensive stuff is over there.

For instance: I work in Manhatten but I can't afford to live there so I reside in Brooklyn...a nice area that's still within the reaches of the city (about 25 minues by train) but more reasonable in rent. What would be an equivilant neighborhood in London? Please don't say Leeds.
