I got a paper in the mail a while back saying I won some money but had to call to the Uk to claim it. I ignored it and they sent another. (I know for sure this was not from the internet)I got a calling card and called the number and they said I did win and theyll send a check within 5 to 10 days. They said they draw winners once a year Everyone believes this is a scam...anyone ever hear of it? The main workers' names are Jane Combs and Tony Adams

Hull 'apparently ' has a reputation for being a 'crap' town. Now after living in the place for 40 years I can't see why. I have worked the length and bredth of the country over a 23 year period. Ive seen all the slums in the country and all the way up to the 'Kensintons' of the place. So what is it that makes it crap here?

What is with the idea that England has a lot of fog all the time? I live in England and I see fog maybe twice a year. You've all been watching too many movies or something.

...what do you like most about the UK?

(in no order of preference, I adore Marmite, Cadbury's, Branston Pickle, cucumber sandwiches & tea, John Cleese, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Tracy Ullmann, Elton John, fog, cliffs, pubs, darts, Stonehenge, those sexy accents, etc.)

How about you?

(I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, btw)

bonus points if you know the '70s song in the header lol

I am South African and have recently returned from the UK, where I lived for 3 years. I love the place and want to go back. Law says any one of 4 grandparents being British will get you an ancestoral visa. I have 8 British great grandparents, but even that sheer bulk won't hack it! However... one of my grandmothers had a British passport and went to school in Kent - but she was born in South Africa.

Would anybody know if an Ancestoral visa may be acquired through a grandparent having a British passport or must they have been BORN in Britain?

And...

If it IS possible, what would I need and who would I go through to arrange the visa?

Thanks anybody!
