Slightly vague question I know, I'm trying to get a friend of mine a gift before he goes off though East Asia and Australia, he's never been on a long travelling jaunt before and neither have I and I want to get him something, that will make him say "thank god I had that with me" etc. any suggestions, budget is limited but all ideas welcome.

and start all over again in another country? Good opportunity ? Questions should I stay or should I go always come up, it's mostly my friends I think about and how much I will miss them. Of course I will keep in touch with them by email and letters. Can you suggest any other ways to cope with this and how to get over the culture shock?

My husband and I have to put in our top 5 picks of where we want to get stationed next through the Air Force and hope to get one of them. We're going to try to stay overseas and these are probably our best options. Where would you want to go 1-5?

The Azores are in the middle of the Atlantic between the US and Europe - same latitude (about) as Spain.

I'm looking to travel to a country preferably in a warmer climate where the major language is preferably English or Spanish. I'm looking for a great exchange rate. Basicly, I'd love to buy a beer for $.05 and find a hotel room for $6. That would be great! Let me know. Thanks, Jon.

Everything else is correct, but instead of an i in my first name it has an l. I already checked the Department of State site and it said if there were any mistakes I'd have to go through the whole process again something I really want to avoid. It's not very noticeable but I'd like to know what people would recommend me in this situation.

i need to do a speech for school that convinces people to visit a particular city, which is outside the US. i also need to list 3 tourist attractions or places to visit. the catch is that if you pick Rome, Italy you can only stay in Rome not Sicily or any other city. Can anyone think of a good city with good places to visit...and do you know of any good places? thanks

Besides AAA are there any other groups and associations that help you to get discounts on travel expenses such as hotel bookings, airfare, and rental cars?

recently an American aquaintence of mine told me that, during the Vietnam war, he was stationed at Wang Too Long in the Minge Pong district and that towards the end of the war, he took several trips up the Poontang river; but I can't find any of these places on the map. Do you think they may be in Cambodia?

I submitted this question earlier and got some very srange answers - so I wanted a second opinion.

we like small-ish places

(and ship wrecks & pirate stuff)

there are 6 small children, 4 thirty somethings, and 2 middle aged adults?
(no pets, no smoking but we don't have a smoking prefrence....we'd probably enjoy the stink of an old ash-tray)

I am traveling later this week, and I like to fly but I get very anxious when I fly. I think about how we are 30,000 feet in the air and I get a little claustrophobic and my head feels wierd. I was wondering if anyone had some tricks that has helped them out...?

Space tourists blowing up tons of cash on a few days trip in space. wouldn't this money be more useful to build fences around schools. OK fine it is their private money but why is the media treating those tourists as heros ? What have they achieved to help their country ?
