Everything else is correct, but instead of an i in my first name it has an l. I already checked the Department of State site and it said if there were any mistakes I'd have to go through the whole process again something I really want to avoid. It's not very noticeable but I'd like to know what people would recommend me in this situation.

Yes, you will have problems. However, if you can prove that the mistake was done by the passport processing department, you should not have to pay for another passport to be issued.

Depending on where you travel to, you can be held back at the border, denied money changing, questioned by the police; all because your identification papers don't match. They might not believe it's really you. It's not worth the trouble to have a wrong passport. Spend the time and effort to get it fixed before you travel.

If that's the case to go through the whole process again, I don't think they should charge at all for an error they made in the first place. Problems can occur either at the border, at the airport, or anywhere else, because identications need to match.

You will have problems yes. They look at your ticket/boarding pass (depends on the country) and compare exactly. This is something you could chance, but really it isn't worth it. You can run into a lot more problems this way than doing what you are trying to avoid.

Wherever you had the passport done at should have to redo it for free, they made the mistake. You will have problems, you may not get into the country, or back into ours!
