Keeping it brief, I am a history buff especially when it comes to Ancient and Medieval Rome. I prefer doing my own sight seeing, but guided tours are OK if that is all there are. I was hoping for ANY suggestions you have for someone going on a Roman History vacation in Italy, sights, locations, hotels, anything. Thanks in advance!

Of course we want to see the museums and shop, sample different foods in the various regions. But, we also want to get see the smaller less traveled places. So any input as to the best way to make the best use of our little time (10 days)-would be great.

My answer? Yes. Resistance to any other culture, ideas, or open-mindedness, to me, is a mental disorder. Face it, Conservatism is not the mainstream ideology in America nd they need to face reality. They like to shove their religion, so-called Morals (they practice something called "selective morality), and bogus family values down everyone's throats.

You have freedom of speech, but you don't deserve special rights, and you don't have the freedom to force your belief system down our throats. You have the right to your religion, the right to express you opinion, you have the right to do whatever you want, but you dont have the right to dictate people on how to live their life, and you don't have the right to force others to follow your brand of morality (orwhatever the hell you call it).

I've seen travel documentaries that show small shops that make men's shoes. I'll be around Bologna, Rome and Sicily. Does anyone know of one of these craftsman? Not interested in pricey famous brands.

A couple of late 30's females want to go to Italy last week in June where we can visit historical buildings, experience the cafe culture (not overpriced please), find good conversation, good wine and good food.

We do not necessarily need a beach - nor do we want night clubs. We love people watching and my single friend would like to meet some eligible single men!

Any ideas?

I am planning my first trip outside the U.S. to Rome, Italy. I am skeptical about renting a car. The driving is not a problem for me, it's the parking. When parking for shops, restaurants, and museums, are there street parking? Metered stalls? Parking lots? Basically, waht's the parking situations in Rome, Italy?
