I have seen long lines during the summer for the Accademia, but will there be lines in February? I don't know whether I should try to make reservations or not.

We will be in Tuscany October 11 and 12. We would like to visit a vinyard and winery and also an olive orchard and processor. Can someone recommend a specific place for each; not just city, but business name also? Someone in the area?

I went to Florence, Italy found the people to be very rude and nasty and mean.. I am a stylish New Yorker and was starred down, given dirty looks and some lady made a look of disgust while i was talking. Whats their problem? I've been to Paris, London, and Germany and had no problems at all.
Whats wrong with them?

i have a friend who lives in florence, italy who is originally from morocco. i would like to have him come to america to visit but i hear its difficult for moroccans to come to america. he has lived in italy for 5 years and has a "permesso di soggiorno" but not a passport for another year and a half. does he need to get a visa to come here or can come without a visa for up to 90 days since he lives in italy?

I'm planning a trip to Florence, Italy this summer with my girlfriend. I wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions for exciting places to go and see. I prefer to do things just the two of us (no group tours or anything). Money doesn't matter at this point, we're just looking for something that will leave a good impression. Any suggestions?

I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise in the summer of '08 and one of the stops is in Florence. I was incredibly excited until I realized our one day in Florence is on a Monday when the main museums are closed. I still have a lot of time to look into this (but I'm incredibly excited now, lol). So what has everyone who has been there enjoyed seeing and doing that is going to be open for me :)

Many of the other places on the cruise are ones I have already been to such as Rome and Napoli, so I'm really looking forward to Florence the most!

Thanks for any suggestions you all have :) I'd much rather tour on my own than do something run by the cruise ship.

I am really interested in Italian Renaissance art which is why the museums being closed is such a disappointment for me. So if there are any less popular musuems (open on Mondays!) that you know of, that would be really great.

Can I make reservations online or should I call the Museum ? What number do I dial from New York? Are reservations also available for the Collosseum in Rome?

I would like to bike around Florence but the idea of being part of a tour group and having someone else manage my day is a real turn off.
How can I rent a bike and do a tour of this sort myself?

My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary in Tuscany in mid-late September. Flying in/out of Rome. Would like to stop in Florence, Siena, Montepulciano (at the very least). Can you tell me:
1. Other towns we should see?
2. Towns best for day trips vs those we should stay the night?

Oh - we're big wine folks, too. Please - only answer based on personal experience.
Thanks for your help!
