Any suggestions on where we should stay while in Athens (for four days)? (Greece, not Georgia!)

We will be in Greece for 15 days in Sept/Oct. Four days in Athens and the rest on an island (we're thinking Santorini). Will we need to rent a car or will public transportation be sufficient?

and she wants to go overseas for a month as her best friend is dying of cancer, she is borrowing the money to go and would like to know if she will lose her benefits if she goes or is she allowed a certain time overseas without loseing anything? she doesn't want to cause suspition by calling the DSS, has anyone done this ?

Does anyone know if there is a backpacker's hostel in Delphi (or similar type of cheap dorm accommodation. I'd like it to be in Delphi, so I can walk to the ancient sites. If so, is there a web site for booking it?

I've searched hostelworld.com, but they only have hotels in Delphi.

I am traveling to Greece from the USA in May.
Do many people speak English there? We are wanting to talk to relatives and learn some family history since our family came to the US from there about 1900. We know they came from the island of CHIOS. Can anyone help or make suggestions on what to do and How do you get from Athens to Chios?

I was in Greece for 3months last summer and I was reading all along about the little boy, Alex from Veroia and the struggle to find his body and his murderers. What has happend up to this point? Have they come to any conclusions? Have they found the body? Where is this case standing?
