and she wants to go overseas for a month as her best friend is dying of cancer, she is borrowing the money to go and would like to know if she will lose her benefits if she goes or is she allowed a certain time overseas without loseing anything? she doesn't want to cause suspition by calling the DSS, has anyone done this ?

Have been in a similar situation, your friend will need to sign off benefit and then sign on again when she returns, they wont pay you to be out of the country.
If she goes and doesn't tell them it's classed as fraud, best she does the right thing and accepts that she will lose her benefit for the period of time she is away.

whose going to know she is over there, but i don't think it does affect because it isn't a long period of time, she's probably best asking the DSS, why would it cause suspcious she only wants to know what happens, it's not as if she is working

sorry to hear about your friends best friend dying of cancer ,to be honest id just go and say nothing ,sometimes it pays to be to honest and anyway she can say she had her mind on her friend and just didnt think .i cant see the benefits people being that heartless .

makes no difference.i was on benefits and went to spain and they didnt say anything.

who cares if she goes abroad.free country especially when ur on benefits.GET A JOB the bum!
