My husband and I will be taking a belated honeymoon to Greece in Sept/Oct. We will stay about 4 days in Athens, then head to Santorini for about 8 days. Can someone please suggest a location and/or resort or villa in Santorini?

The most popular and nice places in Santorini are : Oia and Hmerovigli.
But for my opinion the best place to go is the Hotel : Caldera's dolphin located in Megalochori! I've been there and I loved that. It's totally isolated from the crowd and it has amazing view!!!
PS The photos at their website aren't so good...

IMEROVIGLI is the nicest place. U have direct views of the volcano and it feels like ur surrounded by the greek gods. Santorini is a very intense place in general, i think you'll love it. Look around the web, u'll find nice small luxury hotels. Just google imerovigli santorini and i'm sure u'll find many!

I think it's a case of matching your research to what you want. A great place to sort by star rating, price, location and amenities is at Cheaper than Hotels for Greece, and I've provided a few links to assist.
The hotel/resort pictures should say a thousand words or at least prompt you to dig deeper.

I am not sure of the names of the resorts, but I do know that the village of Oia was our favorite in Santorini. Fira is the main town, which is nice as well, but get a hotel in Oia. Enjoy your trip!!

some hotels: Astra, Ikies, Chromata. All are on the cliff with great view and a very good fame to us greeks.
