The best example yet of the lies and out right profiteering has to be the Esso situation. Yes there was a fire, No gas was harmed, Yes there was a CN strike, now it's over..........NO, none of the other gas companies was directly affected, YET, lo and behold, their prices went through the roof. And now, as if to add insult to injury, Esso and other gas companies are claiming that there is still a shortage, but due to what, they will not say, just that there is still a crisis. A.) Do they really think the general public is that stupid? B.) Knowing they more than likely pay off MPs, should we consider some form of direct action? C.) What suggestions, if any, would you have in regards to what action to take? D.) and since profiteering is a crime, should the law become involved?

My husband is American and I am duel. We are having a baby in June and we would like to move to Canada in September to live wtih my family. My husband's job requires that he travel internationally 20+ days a month so he would only be in Canada for short bouts. I want to stay at home with our newborn and live with my parents so we do not plan on changing our residency. Does anyone know what sort of papers we will need if any to do this? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Hey there,

My fiancee and I are getting married soon and want to move to the metro-Vancouver area. How hard is it to move there, get jobs, and get established? I went to the CIC website and took the little test they had, and I didn't make the number of points they currently require.. how much of a factor does that play? Any advice on what I should do? I figure'd asking people that have already made the move would be best.

Thanks!

Hello all. I would like to work in Canada. I am not sure that I would like to stay forever, but work for a couple of years. What would be the best way of going about it? Would I need to apply for a visa beforehand or go to Canada and look for a job first? I work in IT (if that helps). Any answers gratefully received.

I live in Detroit, go to Windsor (Canada) weekly, and am forced to pull over and go through a time consuming search of my vehicle about HALF the time. Why are they doing this to me? What am I doing wrong, or what is the reason you think? How can I be less of a target???

If there is anyone who works for the border patrol on here, that would be helpful too.

I am a US citizen, and travel with a birth cert.

First off, there is NO SUCH THING as a "best" province in Canada. We are Canada. The country is everything and the province is NOTHING. Got it??

OK, so Alberta has no debt a booming oil economy and nice scenery. Good on you.

But you also have BORING cities (Edmonton IS slightly better than Calgary, however), people who act like Texan wannabes (the rest of Canada thinks you look like jackasses in your pickup trucks and Stetsons, by the way), and this silly idea that you should have more of a say in national matters than what you do.

The fact is that Alberta was carved out of Canada in 1905. *Your* oil belongs to CANADA. Speaking of oil, Alberta has put all its eggs in a baskat labelled "oil." Once the bottom falls out in the oil market -- and don't think it won't -- we'll see how wonderful a place Alberta is.
