Here are some options:

1) Board him at a kennel ... some are very nice, called "doggy motels" and the dogs are not kept in kennels at all, and the care is excellent. Also, they don't cost considerably more than the old kennel type.

2) Fly him with you ... I don't recommend this as flying is hard on dogs, but it is an option. And he would be with you at your destination.

3) Rent a minivan or compact pickup, and put a large crate in the back for him. This is how my dog, 34" at shoulder and 135 lbs, rides all over the country.

4) Contact shelters or dog breeders for names of other dog sitters, or references on good kennels.

Best of luck to you.

Rent a U-Haul trailer, and fix it up really nice for him in the back. Put air holes in the trailer for sure and the folks at U Haul won't know because all their stuff is crap anyway.
