My husband is American and I am duel. We are having a baby in June and we would like to move to Canada in September to live wtih my family. My husband's job requires that he travel internationally 20+ days a month so he would only be in Canada for short bouts. I want to stay at home with our newborn and live with my parents so we do not plan on changing our residency. Does anyone know what sort of papers we will need if any to do this? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

americans are allowed, i think, up to 6 months of uninterrupted stay in canada. if your husband is going out of the country within 6 months, i think it should be fine.

Generally, if you're an american, you can stay for pretty much as long as you want. Canada could care less. I mean, come on, you're an American. If you want to work or study here, that's a different issue. You need a visa for that. It's pretty easy to get one for your husband considering you're canadian. Don't sweat it, you know that Canada's a real friendly country (to certain, more modern countries).

If he's not working here, and he's not interested in becomming a Canadian, he really doesn't have to do anything. If he wants to be a Canadian, you'll have to sponser him.

Your situation is relatively unique and I would suggest that the answers you might see here may not be accurate. Contact, Immigration Canada and speak to someone there that can give you the straight story and you'll not be surprised later as you may be when taking advice from a stranger.
