of the people participating here at YAP? No offense meant but I feel like I'm in the middle of frat/sorority war in here. Yahoo answers is supposed to be a forum for asking questions that make sense and for people to share what they know about the topic, isn't that correct?

When people ask you what kind of transport system does the Philippines have now or if credit cards are widely used here?

Do they think just because we are the labelled at times as "the Philippine Islands" dahling makes people abroad think we are some backwards hula dancing primitive country? Oh dahlings, the irony of it...*gasp*

"There are quite a few cheaters in Yahoo Answers. Often, I'm amazed at the ferocity at which they pursue reaching a top 10 list of top contributor status--given that Yahoo Answers does not compensate reaching such a goal in any tangible way. Medically the term for this condition is OCD (obsessive-compulsive disroder) or some variant.

These cheaters employ every despicable manner of methods that are bereft of ethics, propriety and dignity to attempt to subvert the rules that everybody else must abide by.

Obviously, they were not raised properly by their parents.

It saddens me to think of how empty their REAL lives must be for them to think that their "status" on an Internet forum full of strangers could be so important that they spend literally 24 hours a day, 365 days a year here fervently answering questions (and cheating while at it)--as if their efforts here will actually result in some meaningful sense of fulfilment.

It won't.

Where are these people's REAL LIFE

If there's a Yahoo Answers Convention, let say to be held in Makati, who would you like to be seating next to you? Your left and right side. Considering that only Yahoo Answers Users are invited.

And why?

PHILIPPINES = MALAYKO

We belong to Malay race but we're now internationally raced by different nationality, a bit confused caused by rampant cross breeding by our fellow Filipinos, Isn't that cute, when somebody asks you what country you belong from , just say "MALAYKO"

I know, in the Philippines, it's a sign of respect to your elders. In some countries, the women walk behind their husbands as a gesture of respect. But it all gets to a point when it all sound so fake and can easily be interpreted as butt-kissing.
I watched an interview of a common Filipino (tagalog-speaking) on CNN once. The man kept using po and opo so repetitively, it got teeth-grindingly annoying.
I visited a Jollibee branch here in Makati yesterday and a kid, who was about 2 or 3 years younger than me kept adding "po" to everything addressed to me.
Maybe if we limit the use of "Po" and Opo" to our elderly in the family, it would be ok. I just do not think it's necessary to use these words when conversing to the police, teachers, politicians, customers (if you work in the fast-food industry, for example), etc...

What do you think?
