When people ask you what kind of transport system does the Philippines have now or if credit cards are widely used here?
Do they think just because we are the labelled at times as "the Philippine Islands" dahling makes people abroad think we are some backwards hula dancing primitive country? Oh dahlings, the irony of it...*gasp*

Would you just smile and take it? Just to keep the peace dahlings? I know of some countries and some nationalities that wouldn't take the matter sitting down.

And as one said, we do have 3 of the biggest malls in the world. We "natives" do know how to shop no? *sigh* Ay, as if we didn't get much exposure from World War II. At least in Russia, someone told me, you're from Philippines, USA da? If that is a small consolation dahling.

Personally coming from the other answerers, their honeys, dearies and dahlings make them sound so sweet and comforting Roche dahling. Don't you feel that family-like ambiance? *sigh*

Excellent question, sweetie! True, that used to bother me before but not anymore now. The way I look at it is it's really their "fault" if they have little or no knowledge at all about the Philippines. The truth is most people hardly know anything about other countries, much less their own country. Here in the States, it's not uncommon to find regular joes and jacks who don't even know that Washington DC is their nation's capital. If that is the case, how else do we expect them to know where the heck the Philippines is and what we have there? Their loss really. But given any small opportunity, I do tell (about the Philippines)...and tell them, I do.
MABUHAY!

I'm sure I would be very annoyed, just as I am when people jest at me for being English in the U.S. Then I tell them I've only lived here 36 years, so that gets them going to say "Well, you haven't lost your accent!" and I tell them, I'm proud of my heritage, and didn't leave it at home when I emigrated. After all, isn't our language English? Of course, they're always ready to tease, And you drive on the wrong side of the road. I could say, I can drive on either side, but I'm not sure if I could any more.
It does seem as if people don't notice or care about progress from other U.S. lands, just because they're not on the land mass, but I would just look them in the eye, and turning on my heels, I would say very little, but you know these things and if they are not interested enough to explore your home, you can at least be happy knowing you are secure in your place, and not let anyone intimidate you loving where you are. If they are planning a visit, that's what you do, but if they're already there, why don't you say, well you seem to want to see us as we are, so I hope you enjoy it, with all its differences you find, now.

No, dahling. I don't hate it when foreigners ask that.
I have never presumed that Philippines is a famous country that's why I don't take offense when foreigners ask those kinds of questions.
If there's anything, it's an opportunity for me to educate foreigners what a great country the Philippines is.
And please stop with your dahlings. Everybody thinks it's phony.

nasty honey, those people are really ignorant and most of them are from --. I live in Canada and I read questions like do we live in igloos in Canada. These are the kind of people who were raised as if they own the whole world and doesn't have to learn about others and their culture. Ooooppps, before everyone of you reacts it's not a generalization of a certain culture or country. I'm just sharing my experience in here. Peace!

Its sad but true. People the world over are stupid. The Philippines is an emerging world market as far as business and technology. Some people truly can't see past their own doorstep.

I wouldn't mind it too much.. many people have questions about the economics in other countries as well, it's not all the same.
If you look at other developing countries, they lack many technological entities that may help boost their economical systems.

It's ok,darling. They have the same questions back there at Y/A Travel- Italy. lol
Some people are too naive to ask something like that. It must be because they haven't been to the said place before. Let's just try to understand their sentiments. <*-*>
