NO! If you carry a valid Bristish passport, you don't need a visa to enter the Philippines for a short visit. Just c'mon over...you are always welcome here.

This is what I know but the best advice anyone can give you is to phone the Philippines Embassy/Consulate General.

If you are married to a Philippines citizen you do NOT need a visa to enter the Philippines PROVIDED you do not stay in their country for more than 56 days. If you do stay OVER 56 days without leave then you incur a small fine of about 1,000 to 2,000 Pesos (it happened to me -- even though I am married to a Filipino girl).
The best thing to do is to go with the proper visa as it is pretty embarrassing to be called to the side when you present your passport to the airport authorities in Manila... as other people may think that you are an undesirable or something and that that is why you are being called to the side and taken to the office... which is only to pay the fine).
Since you're at it, remember that you also need to pay an EXTRA 1000 Pesos as Airport Tax and if you are married to a Filipino citizen they have to, additionally, pay a fee called Income Tax Exemption Fee (yes, that is what is called). Good luck. The Philippines is a magical country and well worth visiting and the women are super beautiful... but that is another story.

British citizens must have a valid passport. No visa is required for a stay of up to 21 days, unless passport is endorsed British National (Overseas), in which case no visa is required for a maximum stay of seven days.

Everyone entering the Philippines must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended period of stay. All visitors must have return or onward tickets and documents necessary for further travel, as well as sufficient funds.

No. Your country like the USA is not on the "restricted list". You can stay up to 21 days on a tourist visa which is automatic on arrival. You can extend for up to one year. If you wish to stay longer than 21 days you are supposed to get a visa from the Philippine consoloute. Do they enforce this ? Not really.

No you will be allowed to stay for 21 days. This stay can be extended at Bureau of Immigration, but the maximum permitted stay will be one year, in total. A fee is payable, and hotels can get couriers to do the necessary, but they charge for their services.
If you are married to a Filipino citizen, and you enter the country with them, you will automatically be entitled to a one year visa.

Yes you must have six months left to run on your passport, and an air ticket to a destination outside of the country, but only rarely do you need to produce this.

If you wish you can go to the Philippine Embassy in London, and get a fifty-nine day visa on payment of a fee. You will need two 2" x 2" photos, and will have to fill in two forms. You leave your passport before eleven in the morning, and collect it with the visa at around five in the evening. All fees must be paid in cash.

Enjoy your stay.

If you overstay, a few days, and don't obtain a visa, you can pay the equivalent at the airport of departure, together with a penalty and a waiver fee. It used to be P500, P300 & P10 respectively P810 in all.

Remember you need to pay departure tax of P500 at the airport.

Edit - To Clarify:
For those married to a Filipino citizen, like myself.
In the late eighties, a person entering the Philippines with their Filipino spouse was automatically entitled to a fifty-nine day stay. In the nineties this was upped to one year, and still stands.
The departure fee seems to be P550 at Ninoy Aquino (Manila) and P500 from Mactan (Cebu).

I have entered and left the Philippines many times, well into double figures, and am now resident here with my Filipina wife, and our daughter.

No need for a visa. Just bring your passport and lots of cash. Why? you ask? Because when you get there you won't want to leave.
