It's because Philippines is one of the biggest internet users in the world, the largest English-speaking country in Asia and there are Hundreds of Millions of Filipinos around the world. Yes, Philippines is one of the best and interesting places in Asia.

third world generally means poor. so yes, philippines is third world. the remarkable thing about this is that for hundreds of years, under spanish rule, philippines was the 'pearl of the orient', the wealthiest of all asian nations, and up until about 40 years ago the Philippines was second only to Japan in wealth, development and incomes. Now philippines is regarded one of the poorest nations in asia, with one of the poorest avg income levels. There are many poor nations, this is unremarkable. The decline of the Philippines over such a short period of time is most remarkable. There may still be a mindset in the Philippines that the nation is 'well off', developed, advanced, etc.. but this may just be an inherited belief left over from the past glory of earlier generations.

Frankly speaking, eventhough Im a Swiss, I really appreciate the hospitality in that country. Pretty much adventures to do in their plentiful of islands too (Someone mentioned to me that there are 7000? I guess)... Swimming beaches (Boracay), diving reefs(palawan), mountaineering (Mt.Apo), river boats (cagayan), heritage (Banaue Rice Terraces, Chocolate Hills, Kawasan Falls, Baguio's Taal Volacano, Mayon), shopping (Ive been to their huge malls like Mall of Asia), fishing, treking, Enchanted Kingdom (well Disneyland is obviously way better), cheap things in Divisoria and Greenhills market amazed me... and more. Its a whole lot different than the other countries in Asia. Almost everyone speaks english and most of them are Christian influenced with their beautiful spanish architecture cathedrals (Cebu's Basilicas and Cathedral). The art is more of Spanish influenced which makes their country one of a kind in Asia. They also have different looks... than other parts of Asia.... I guess...That was just based on experience. I miss this country! I know that a lot of them also is very active with computers.... So many Filipinos I have seen going online... chatting and browsing.

Simple. Millions of Filipinos abroad check whats new in the country.
Doesn't mean that the Philippines is a popular or great country like what others said.

this may be due to the fact that Philippines is an archipelago (a collectin of island)...there are 7101 islands in all. this means there are more places to discover that will cater to any traveler specially a nature enthusiasts. There are a lot of untouched forest, hidden paradise that draws tourists. the most popular ones are Boracay Island, Palawan (Puerto Prinsesa), Puerto Galera, Tagaytay, Hundred Islands...

Once you experience these tourists spots...you'll keep coming back=P

That's an easy one!
It's because:
-we are more sociable and flexible as in we can assimilate and blend in to any type of crowd easy;
-we know English better which is the lingua franca in Yahoo;
-we are more relaxed since we can spend or waste more time doing stuff like this;

In real life as in our Internet life, Filipinos are naturally friendly and hospitable. Just look at how many responses you're getting to your question. It's in our DNA to be accommodating in every way we can. And yes, it is the best place here at Y!A travel section. Occasionally, we do experience a "bad troll day" or a "sibbling rivalry day"...but it's all good in the 'hood. YAPhils really rocks!!!

Because right now its day in the Philippinese and English is spoken widely in the Philippines, and thus a lot of Filipinos may be using yahoo answers right now.

Because may Filipinos are internet addicts..cant you realize that every year we are winning the Miss Photogenic category in Miss Universe because voting is done through internet?

But in all of YA!, the most popular is the RELIGION and Spirituality. category.

not only is it the best place, but filipinos speak english better and in Yahoo english is the language, so communications are not a problem!!
