When my sister was in college, she had a classmate with the surname "Puque" (pooh-keh). The teacher once joked in the class by calling her name repetitively during an attendance check, though she was just right in front of her! Crazy professors... lol. There was also an episode in the documentary show "Eye Witness" where they featured odd Filipino surnames. One guy they interviewed was Mr. "Cagandahan" who had a girl classmate in college, Ms. "Caguapuhan". The reporter said it could've been more interesting if they ended up together.

In grade school, one of my batch mate's surname is Panti. One time, she had an award and was called unto the stage and everyone was teetering. Poor girl.

Just this last summer, walking through Sagada we found a politician's campaign poster. It says "Vote!!! Maday-a for Congressman..." Hehe, ayaw ko nga!

I once had a classmate whose surname was Tinio, by itself not really a funny nor unusual name, and whose first name was Teresita, a very common name in fact. At roll call on the first day of class, the teacher called out loud "T. Tinio!" and we almost died laughing.

I think Gasan would be funny name, but only if you're Patti, don't you think.
