Because I don't know any Chinese or Japanese who ask the kind of questions, it's always Koreans who always do.

eg. Who is more manly: Korean, Japanese, or Chinese?
who is the prettiest: Korean, Japanese, or Chinese?

South Korea today is a technologically advanced and wealthy country with the 11th largest economy in the world, w/ major corporations like Samsung, LG, and Hyundai.

But it seems like whenever people hear about Korea, most people only think about division, the Korean War, and North Korean missiles. i think it's a shame that after all that South Korea has accomplished in becoming a wealthy country, most people don't seem to know this and somehow think that South Korea is not a developed country.

why is this?

"Isn't Samsung Japanese?" - a lot of people

I am just sick and tired of answering those stupid questions and especially reading the answers.. I try not to answer some of them, but sometimes some of the answers are false and really offensive. I feel so frustrated when people have negative views and post racist statements about Korea, and I constantly end up defending the truth to them. It's like they have absolutely no clue about Korea's deep history and culture.. They are the ones who need to study more history.

I did and thought it was a good show. However, I was concerned about the attendance. I expected more people. I also, never expected to get a floor ticket 30 minutes after the doors opened.

I'm thinking of taking a short trip (a week or less) to South Korea early this winter. Would like to take in a couple of main cities (probably Busan, Seoul) and some countryside, with a culture/food/nature focus.

Mainly, I would like to know how safe it is there for a western woman travelling alone. Any tips in this situation (for what kind of accomodation to choose, modes of transport, places to go/avoid etc).

I've been living in Japan for almost 2 years, and travelled alone here. Feel pretty comfortable here, but understand Korea could be very different.

Also, any general tips on Korea? All ideas/tips will be gratefully received.

I'm from Colorado, and I'm going on a trip to South Korea for 11 days with a group of people. I've never been out of the country, so I'm kind of nervous. I know it will be an AWESOME time, but I want to make sure I have all of my bases covered (what to bring, etc).

Thanks for the help!

Why does everyone ask questions about this boy band? And bad questions at that such as, "how can I contact .....?" Do you really think he's going to go out his way just to meet you? Or does blah blah have a girlfriend? Do you really think you really have a shot dating him? It sounds like they are Korea's only popular music group. Basically Korea's version of the Backstreet Boys which is basically a manufactured bunch of singers controlled by a record label.

Seriously, this baffles me. I get the normal response of it is easier for the foreigner to pronounce. In my opinion that is a cop out. I have been in Korea for over a year and I have never heard of a foreigner having problems pronouncing Korean names even when romanized.

A name is the beginning to a person's identity. Why give them a new special English name? Do Koreans want to assume an English identity?

I have two Korean friends, one from Seoul and one from Daejeon. They are also friends with each other and joke around all the time.

The friend from Seoul tells me to learn Korean from the Daejeon friend. He says that the Daejeon accent is the prestige accent.

The friend from Daejeon tells me that the Seoul friend is just making fun of us and that the Seoul accent is standard.

So who is speaking the truth?

I lost my cousin's email in Korea, and I know the beginning of it, but I forgot the end of it (after the @).

What's the most popular Korean Email Service? Like America's ...@yahoo.com or ...@hotmail.com.

Could someone name a few for me because I think I'll be able to figure it out by seeing it.
