Because I don't know any Chinese or Japanese who ask the kind of questions, it's always Koreans who always do.

eg. Who is more manly: Korean, Japanese, or Chinese?
who is the prettiest: Korean, Japanese, or Chinese?

Yeah, I'm thinking same thing too.

I think Koreans have fierce jealousy toward Japanese.
They want to defeat Japanese no matter what it takes.
Nankin Massacre and comfort womens are cases in point.
On every matter, they draw this for attempting to discredit Japanese. Sad to say, that's almost no effect to other people.
(Think why Taiwanese NEVER insists this issue)

They feel repugnant that Japan and China gather attention than Korea. (See Y!A Japan section, there are much more postings than here.)

As you said, Chinese and Japanese never ask such questions, because they think it's silly little things prevailing against Koreans.

Depends on if they are a K-pop fan or no longer. XDD jks jks Usually, Japan is fairly accepting of different cultures, it is often China and Korea that detest the Japanese for WW2 stuff, no longer such a lot Japan disliking the others. But severely, the korean pop revolution is uniting fanatics from far and wide the sector! It's does not look to topic if you are chinese language, eastern, korean, thai, fiipino...or some thing ^^

It is a pride issue. Koreans are fiercely nationalistic.

The source of it can be debated for hours, but in my opinion it has something to do with being Japan and China's punching bag for the past few centuries.

If you study anthropolgy and psychology in Korea, one of the first things you learn about Korean culture is hte "keep up with the neighbor" and "group think" mentalities.
the idea is that you should have as much as your neighbor, but not grossly more. you should go out together and act together on a major project, (loners are not commonly accepted here), and try to do what's best for the group.
(all while keeping up without trying too hard)
The social relationships invite comparisons and criticism.
Opinions are important in group-think societies.. more so than in teh "I don't care what you think" mentality of Americans for example.
