The Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo used to be very cool. But now you can't get to the auction area and the activity is down from when I was there 20 years ago. Is it still worth a visit? Has anyone been there since access was restricted in 2005 and was it still interesting?

I know that it won't work with the Japanese ATMs, obviously, but can I still purchase stuff with it?

I'm not referring to a credit card, I'm talking about a check card with a Visa logo. In the states, I can use it like a credit card. Except, it automatically deducts money from my checking account.
