My family is considering planning a trip to Japan, and while my dad says the best time to go is early Summer, I say it's Spring. What is the best time, in terms of weather, goings-on, traffic, and the like?

Also, are there any general tips anyone could give about going? Thanks!

So I'm making a trek through Asia from mid-April to the end of June. Originally I was planning to start in Japan, but now I'm thinking of finishing there. Why? Simply for packing/wardrobe reasons. If I go in mid-April, I'll have to wear shoes and socks, and long sleeves (for at least the evenings). If I went the last week of June, I would just need the clothing I'll be wearing for the rest of my trip (sandals, light pants, shorts, etc). Therefore, i'll have to pack more stuff if I go in april.

So, my question: I know April is supposed to be a great time to visit to Japan due to the cherry blossoms, pleasant weather, and all, but is it significantly better than the end of June?

that do not include rice (not including the American fast food restaurants)? I told my step-mother I thought rice was included with meals, but not a central part of the cuisine.

I'm stopping over in Tokyo for one night, and I'd like to see the city. I'm just a typical Canadian guy, I don't know any Japanese or anything, but I'd like to go into the downtown area and walk around, go eat some sushi, hang out at a bar with some english speaking locals, and see what ever else I should see before my flight leaves the next morning. Any advice?

I need to purchase an English to Japanese electronic dictionary so that I can communicate a little bit when I travel to Japan. Just basic conversation will do.

Can anyone recommend a good one?
Thanks.

Hi,
I am working to create a social website to allow people from the world to find some japanese friends.

Do you have some special ideas of things that you would like to see besides penpal, forum, pictures, videogames and anime.

Too, if that site was selling a book of the 1000 best questions that users have asked about Japan, would you consider to buy it for a low price, let's say 5$ ?
