Yes, there are small wooden shrines and shrines made of other objects as well. I've seen them at many art stores in various cities in Japan. They're a bit expensive but they are all over the place. They come in many shapes and sizes.

Sure you can. The Shinto one is called 'Kami dana' and the Buddhist one is called 'Butsu dan' Check that on the internet, and I'm sure that Amazon or someone sells it.
