If it is 9:00 pm on Thursday in New York, then (during fall and winter) it will be 11:00 am on Friday in Japan.
In the spring and summer, if it is 9:00 pm on Thursday in New York, it will be 10:00 am on Friday in Japan.
Japan doesn't have daylight savings time. That's why it's different depending on the time of year.

It is midnight Sunday night/Monday morning in Japan now. It is time for most people to be in bed, although a few of us are surfing the web to avoid going to bed and getting up for a grueling workday. The typical family is all sleeping in one room with their tatamis on the floor: parents on the outside and children in between. My favorite karaoke club is closing down. The yakitori chicken place next to me has kicked out all but the regulars who are drinking their last beer and eating the leftoevers that didn't get ordered tonight. The stoplights on my street are blinking yellow and red. The last train has pulled into the station down the street and people are heading home from a weekend trip somewhere. You can see a few bicycles making their way down the cold December streets, a woman pulling her roller suitcase down the street. Right now in New York it is 10 a.m. Sunday morning. You are about to have the day I just had. Lucky for you-- it was a good one!

It depends. What time is it in New York? The question does not contain enough info to be answered correctly.
