I'm leaving in a week and a half to teach English there and I really have no idea what it's like. I would just like someone who's had experience there to give me heads up, if possible. Thank you!

I plan on going to Japan for my senior year of high school. I have a few tattoos on my hands, arms, waist, back and legs. Unless I cover them with clothing or put (a whole bunch of) concealor on them (and sometimes they still show through), they show up really vibrant on me because I have pale skin. Also I heard some schools don't let you dye your hair. How does that work if you don't have black hair naturally and is it against the rules to have really long hair (like past your waist)? Also what if you have a lot of piercings? Also since like the average Japanese girl is 5' 1" ft and I'm at least 5' 8" ft (and muscular from working out, what problems could that give me (like would a uniform actually fit me)? What are basic rules for high school students in Japan? Please post info. Thanks.

Note: Don't post anything about international schools. I plan on going to a traditional Japanese school.

The way westerners sometimes use astrological signs to show personality type? In the write-ups on Japanese characters in Anime, etc. the blood type is often given, but no explanation as to what it is supposed to "mean"... is there a website somewhere that explains this? Help!

TokyoLiv_in09's tatami Q make me think still ppl make "engawa" in new house? How about shouji? In U.S, we can buy tatami, shouji, tansu etc..even old style lamp. Japanese, it seems to me, are no longer intrested in traditional style. =( ( I won't argue about getting rid of old style japanese toilet.)

It would be possible for me to pay by way of bankers cheque in $$$ valid ANY WHERE.I do not find sales of Zafu or Zabutone in India and I need one Zafu filled with buckwheat hull as this stays hard and does not depress over the time I use the cotton filled cushion which is depressed withing 8-10 weeks time and need replacement in order to maintain the height.

Advanced Practitioners and Adepts may not need to sit on any cushion, but I need.. Some may even not sit at all.. but I need to sit.. My question may pl be carefully read and answered. Those attempting answers..

Please note that I am located in India and I do not have any credit card . The online payment is not possible in $$$. I can arrange bankers cheque payable in US Dollars..
