i dunno, maybe its just weird obsessions

but i know i get called "japanese on the inside" by some of my friends because i happen to prefer sushi over fried chicken or some typical american foods. and i do para-para once in a blue moon (ok thats a lie i do it every night as my form of exercise... oh my arms are slimming down!) and i watch japanese tv/dramas.

i haven't gone around sporadically using "nyaaa" or "desu ne" after anything because.... thats just weird, especially if youre not conversing in japanese. i havent dressed up anime or anything because... i would only do that during halloween or if i ever got the intrest in attending an anime expo (which i may do one day just to see what the fuss is about). i do however plan to get my nails done crazy cuz thats just cool. (ex: http://www.scolors.jp/ )

overall i think folks are just maybe trying to express themselves. in some cases people are just obsessed and weird, i kind of avoid the obsessers because they become embarassing.

Well, I'd ask for you to elaborate but... this answer stuff is sort of a one-shot thing.

The ones that do act like crazy-Nippon-ruvy-ruvy are going by a stereotype of what they're presented in anime. They might unnecessarily use Japanese words, or add things like "desu" or "nyaa"(the sound a cat makes) to the end of their speech.

For the most part, they're just taking everything in way too much and are trying to build an identity off of another culture. It happens in other places too, so it's not exclusive to anime fans.

Perhaps what they do need to learn, though, is a respect for the culture of Japan. I once heard of someone getting chewed out because they were adding "nyaa" to the end of their (Japanese) speech. Apparently having a Japanese person tell them the way they're talking is childish is enough to get them to act a little less.... crazy.

But don't criticize them too much, they're just trying to have fun.

Just because they want to speak japanese or do silly things with japanese words doesn't make them think they are japanese. They just like doing these things, i've even done things like speak full on japanese or a s much as i can remember just to confuse and anger my friends. If you would rather have sushi than pizza then that's what you like it's how you feel. Where you are born does not depict on what you like whether you are from Germany or Africa it all depends on taste.
