Please, for the love of God, I don't want to be stuck in the US translating Chinese- English my whole life!! And I know that if I work for the US government that is exactly what will happen. There has to be someone out there from China hiring English speakers who are familiar with Chinese culture and language...... anyone know who??? Honestly, I think I should have stayed in China instead of coming back to the US for my Master's degree... Thanks in advance for your response.....

I need to take some of my visiting relatives out for dinner. Any type of cuisine is fine.

I prefer the traditional, cultural places, not the malls.

Is it because I'm Japanese? lol.

I just found this Chinese travel poll and thought I'd share it:

They seem to be able to reiterate what others have taught them, but not many seem to have their own personal opinions.

My partner and I live in the Wangjing district of Beijing. He has a day off work on Wednesday and seeing as the weather here has been getting nicer we have decided we would like to go somewhere out of the city for a day trip. We hae visited all the usual touristy areas such as the Great Wall at Badaling and The Summer Palace. We were thinking about something like a day at the beach. Can anyone recommend anything that's not too far from Beijing that would make a good day out?

We're going to Beijing & Shanghai. Are there stores where I can buy soccer cleats there? Are they at the shopping marts or at department stores? Are "Adidas" & "Nike" available for purchase?
- Thanks!
