You can take train from Hong Kong Hung Hom train station to Guangzhou Dong Guan train station Vice versa (the other way around) for as cheap as HK$ 283/person, The train will take not more than 2 hours, complete timetable click link below.
If you are south east Asian passport holder you don't need Visa for entering Hong Kong but you still need Visa to enter China. Please check with your travel agent regarding your Visa.

yes, you can take a train, but why would you want to spend the extra money, take a bus, it cost $20 u.s. dolllars.......160 chinese money. takes 3 hours and you get to see a few more sights along the way. by the way that $20 is for a round trip ticket.
