Just landed in Tokyo, and I had little time to prepare this trip (other than the business side). I just have a guide book, and 10 days - most will be business, but if someone has good idea about what to do else - bearing in mind that a woman travelling alone can be made feel "unconfortable" here....

Ideally, I am looking at a couple of off-the-beaten-track ideas, some shopping ideas (not the classy department stores at a zillion dollars for a pantyhose!!!), and one or two night-time ideas that are safe and will take me out of my lonely hotel room with a blasting japanese tv (courses of german in japanese was this morning's show).

THHHHAAAANKKKKKKKS!!!

I am a lonely lilith here.

How well do you think one or two persons can survive with 400-500 euros a month in Bangkok, with apartment already paid.

How much travelling could one do with this kind of budget? Any chances to travel to Malaysia or Laos?

Thanks!

The quality of life achieved for this amount in a provincial city is great. Maids are £15/ month house boys are free if you feed them well. food is cheap. (big prawns(8 to the kilo) are £2.50 a kilo) Sprats 20p/ kilo.beef 1.50 /kilo . drawbacks-- do not get sick and do not go intobusiness if you are not prepared to write off your investment. Do not go to court..it will take you 4 ever. Otherwise plenty of good charming company ..great to write and read books and paint and more.......

Everything here is so expensive, every things has increase, even coffee. But not your pay,in fact alot of them has thier pay cut instead.
One of my friend works in a company for more than 10 years, recently got his pay cut by $500.The management says that if you do not agreed,we will send you overseas for assignment. They were saying,I can employ someone younger than you,do the same type of work at a lower pay.In fact they will ask you what will you do if you are in thier position.
Another fact is,local xxxx keep employing foriegn workers to replaced Singaporeans jobs, these ppl really getting much lower pay.Not forgetting they no need to pay for mortgage but we do!!!
Higher management level are getting many times more than thier workers. What is your opion?
Pls give me facts not nonsence. Thanks
