That depends on if you mean North or South Korea. (I presume South :-)) If you are from the US then it is not so much culture, as understanding how this part of the world ticks. American business people are famous for getting it totally, horribly wrong in some of these areas due to the tendency to assume that the American way fits all people. (This is not a criticism, it's a matter of simple fact). If it is serious business, I would suggest that you take some cultural advice from either one of your peers who has been there or from an agency who can explain how their business model functions.

If u mean South Korea, the people there r friendly actually. When I went there 4 a vacation, I hv no problem communicating wit the Koreans. Try 2 learn some simple Korean phrases & u r perfect enough. If u wanna take a taxi or a train ride, do not hesitate 2 ask da hotel receptionist 2 write ur request in Korean. They will be very happy 2 assist u. BTW, do u hv any friends or business partners there? If yes, then it may be simpler 4 u as u can ask him or her 2 bring u arnd.

Koreans are fairly nice to most foreigners but this is also mostly for Westerners who don't have coloured skin, in any way. Even then though most are fairly kind. Remember that they are going to treat you with the same respect you treat them though. There are probably a few little things to be aware of though.
A - when you invite people out, Korean custom is you pay.
B - when it is your birthday, you are expected to pay (don't know if this is relevant but I was surprised by it on my last birthday)
C - older people recieve the ultimate respect here, you are expected to let them go first, let them sit down in your seat on the subway etc.
Otherwise don't worry about much, it is a nice place to visit, or live, whichever. I personally love living here. Been here going on 2 and half years.

#1 Depends on Where you come from. If you are Euro or American, generally you will be treated ok. If you look African or SW pacific or Muslim...expect to be treated poorly starting at the Immigration line on arrival and until you reach departure from here. #2 Unless you are from a very large Corp and they are footing the entire bill, entertaining new or prospective clients can be extremely expensive if you are paying. Everyone is taking care of someone here. Form the business man (garments) to the resturant owner that he takes you to dinner. Like others KOREANS always take care of each other first. And dont buy into the "we have no money" gimmick.

Remember, it's you, going there.
If I were you, I'd wonder how I shell react to their culture.

Anyway, if you are from the perspective buyer's group, you will be well taken care of.
Koreans are usually straight forward, and tend to keep the ice till the end, then beak it into a celebration.
They are very open mined, yet, very proud of their culture, and if you can show little respect, it will work for your best interest.

Don't leave your hotel room without donning a suit and tie if you're there on business.
