I would wait. The coup has had a positive effect they are attempting to contact the muslim leaders in the area and Malaysia seems willing to mediate any talks. Even after the new government tried contacting the muslim leaders there have still been bombings and murders. Though none have been tourists recently. The recent bombings to me are indications how independent the groups are. And like any country's news you don't know how much the truth is getting to print. Though the Bangkok Post is a fairly independent paper. I would wait and visit that area when all the leaders are at the bargaining table.

Safe. But you still have to register with your country's immigration before you leave, so the local Embassy would capture your data as you arrive.

Have Fun!

Yep it's all fine now, the "new" leader seems like he wants peace and stability. But you got to check your country foreign affairs site to check if it is safe.

Happy Holidays!
