GET A FREE COPY OF MY BOOK: I am writing a book on travel and want to talk about places and things to do which are not very commonly known. If there are special stories, anecdotes or unconfirmed myths about a place, it would be appreciated. I promise to send a free copy of the book when published (around December 2006) to all those whose information I use, no matter where you are in the world. - Ajay Jain, India, connectaj@hotmail.com

This is complicated. I was held captive by criminal terrorists while I was in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The hotel and a world bank was complicit in the plot. My travelers' checks were physically wrestled from me ($8000.00. I was taken to a bank and was forced to sign the checks. My cash, watch, cameras, a recorder. were stolen. I was poisoned. I was kept to a hotel room for 6 days. They wished for me to turn over my passport, and sign some strange documents. I refused, even after they threatened to lock me in a wooden box. The American Embassy rescued me and assisted me in many ways.

Before leaving the US, I went to my cell phone company. I was given assurance my cell phone would operate in Burkina Faso. As soon as I arrived in France I noticed I had "no network." Due to the fact I had no means to communicate with the outside world, I became a victim. The hotel had disconnected my telephone, refused to call the police, or allow me to contact the Embassy. There is much more!

What do you think the usa will be like today if Britain won the american reveloutionary war, so britain owned it. Do you think it would be a fat country and do you think the world will have the same technology as it has today. What do you think it would be like, better or worse?

My boyfrind and I wanna settle in thailand after we marry. We just wanna stay together in a nice country together, by some residence or long term visa.

We are both retired in sense we dont need to work or do a job in thailand. We both are indians and just wanna stay in a nice country long term. we dont want a work visa anywhere. we rather just give some money and get a residence/retirement visa in any country..including thailand.

I heard somewhere that you can get a retirement visa in thailand if u got loads of money and are above 50 yrs. However, we both are about 30 years, so i was wondering if we just invest a bit of money in thailand and stay there with some investor/retired status visa?

any advice? only real life experiences please.
if u have managed to get a similar status stay it would be helpfull if you could give us a detailed reply. thanks

I am planning to visit France while on my way to India. But my ticket is already booked via Frankfurt. What is the best way to travel from Frankfurt to Paris? Rail europe showed me a price of around $300. Are there any alternatives? How much does a plane ticket usually cost? If it does not cost much less, I prefer a train to plane because I get to see europe a little more.
