I am planning to visit France while on my way to India. But my ticket is already booked via Frankfurt. What is the best way to travel from Frankfurt to Paris? Rail europe showed me a price of around $300. Are there any alternatives? How much does a plane ticket usually cost? If it does not cost much less, I prefer a train to plane because I get to see europe a little more.

Hi!
I travelled from Paris to Frankfort a few times and always used the night train b/c it was not too expensive and basically you just have to sleep and wake up in Frankfurt. However we now have very competitive low cost airline in Europe that sell flight tickets for almost nothing (if you don't wait 2 days before your departure to book!). You can try the following ones:
- Ryanair (ryanair.com)
- Easyjet (easyjet.com)
- Germanwings (germanwings.com)
- Virgin Express (virginexpress.com)
- Air France (this is not a low cost but a flag airline; however they frequently offer some very discounted tickets. On wednesdays you will find special offers on their site)

You should try expedia.fr (if you speak French). THey usually have the best offers.

I hope you will love your trip

if your young try the eurorail student rate - there are US rates & locals rates - sometimes you can get a deal to book in advance - sometimes it is cheaper to buy it there!

also check with airlines - sometimes there are cheap commuter flights around europe

You can rent a car and I think that is pretty cheap.
