I was shooting my slingshot into a tree where there where starlings and then one "flew" away but actually glided to the ground and when i went to pick it up it glided to my neighbors junk yard where i caught it. I threw it up into the air but it again glided. Then when I threw it up again it flew to another tree with flapping it wings. I examined it and didn't see anything wrong. Do you think it will be okay? what's your view on this

I am torn between getting a Stoeger Cougar 8000 in 9mm and buying a Glock 20 in 10mm. The gun will mostly serve as home defense and a "just for fun" gun. The 9mm is a very cheap round and the cougar is an inexpensive pistol, whereas the the Glock costs a little bit more and the ammo is fairly expensive. I am open to reloading to fray the cost of the 10mm. On that same note does anyone know how it costs per cartridge to reload 10mm. Ive had good reviews on both pistols, but I still cant decide.

I'm thinking of this in a project with the 7.62 x 39 caliber. I will be shooting standard factory loads. I may use Winchester as they seem to be the most available in name brand.

What are your thoughts on the 338 Lapua, the 300 RUM, and 6.5-284? I want to build a heavy bolt rifle and need to decide on what to chamber it in. I think I'm addicted to bullets with high BC's, and these three rounds hold my interest the most. The use of the rifle would be for paper targets, coyotes, and elk.

im a girl, kinda small frame, 130 lbs, 5' 5"- and have never before fired a gun. this gun will be primarily for self protection, so i want something with real stopping power, as i am home alone for long stretched while hubbys on the road, and lets face it, insurance can only protect so much.

Is it really pointless to have a powerful, short-barreled revolver? I'm talking more around the 454 Casull, 460 S&W. How much velocity is lost when these calibers are used with 4-5 inch barrels as opposed to 6.5in+

Do they make barrels for the Remington 870 HD (home defense) that fire the 2 3/4" shell. The only 870 shotguns I have found only fire the 3" shell and I would also like 2 3/4" shells to be fired for skeet shooting. Do they make 18" inch barrels for it that will fire the 2 3/4" shells?

I am in my 30's and based on some suggestions from fellow posters I decided I might try hunting deer. I have no experience whatsoever hunting so I was looking for suggestions on a good rifle. Also, which is most important scope or rifle?

I am no stranger to guns as I have a few handguns (.22, .25, 9mm) and a .22 rifle. The only expereince I have is at the gun range though. I have never really fired a high caliber rifle before.

Some friend offered to sell me his Springfield 1903A3 for $550. It's an 1950s model with 95 percent blueing, good stock, and a mirror polished barrel.

Is it worth buying?

Ok deer seaons is fastly aproching and i aready have a good gun it is a 243 single shot. I love this gun but the only thing that i worry about is that it might not have enough knock down power for the bigger deer. I want the gun to shoot 200 to 250 yards with good knock down power to.

So i am thinking about a sythetic stock, bolt action either 270 or 30.06, or 7mm.

Let me hear what u think i should get and if u think that those are not good for what i want suggest another caliber.

Thanks in advaced.

I'm 18, not REALLY strong, i dont work out or anything, (just saying as far as recoil goes i dont want to lose control and be missing some teeth) but I'm moving out on my own, into a neighborhood thats not terrible but isnt exactly nice. I'm looking for a handgun for recreational target shooting as well as home protection but i've never owned a gun before save for a air rifle. As a guy naturally I want something that if an assailant gets hit by it, he wont be getting back up before the cops get there . I was looking at 44 magnums but I think for me as a beginner, it''d be much too strong (unless you think i can handle it with practice?).

so without further adieu what would be a good handgun for me?

i know the desert eagle is really powerful, but it's tremendous sound and weight is too much.

So i guess im looking for the second most powerful gun. I would also prefer an automatic pistol since their easier to use

that people follow? Or is it just a disclaimer type liability thing? I mean, how is the gun s'posed to protect you if it's not loaded when you carry? It still needs to be ****** to put a bullet in the chamber and has a heavy trigger pull... isn't that safety enough?
