Thanks everybody for helping me with my question. I thought it would probably be the .50 AE but i wanted to see if anybody came up with a different answer.

Its really a toss up depending on load data.

The .50 AE can generate around 1200 ft/lbs of ME
The .50 GI generates around 1000 ft/lbs of ME
The .45 Win Mag (which is essentially a longer .45 ACP) generates around 1200 ft/lbs
The .44 Auto Mag generates around 1100 ft/lbs of ME

It realy depends on the load and the gun its coming out of, all of these could generate much less energy or more depending on many variables.

the most powerful semi-auto on the market would probably be either the Desert Eagle in .50 AE or the Guncrafter Industries Model 1 in .50 GI.

It would be easier if you suggested a few calibers to review, or specify factory or wildcat. .50 AE is probably the most common, but the .475 Wildey is more powerful.

I dont know....maybe the .454 is one hell of a contender but I dont know who is capable of shooting that in a semi auto.
