IWhat would be good pistol to buy for personal protection?
I want to buy a reasonable priced pistol for personal protection. I don’t want to spend a mint for the pistol but I do wont it to be reliable. I would carry it while hiking in the wilderness and in the glovebox of the car. Please give me some recommendations’ on the type, brand and caliber.
Thanks

I just bought a catfish reel planning that I can use it for saltwater. Does anyone know how to wash and oil it after I'm done for the day? Do I have to take it all apart?

Any websites or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

What, in your opinions, are the pro's and con's of either rifle? Don't suggest I get an SKS, I already have one. Good gun (I love it like you can only love a first gun), but a mite under powered for larger game. The reason I'm obsessed with surplus guns is reliability and expense. I need something that I know will work, something that will still cycle if the temperature changes, and something that I can afford to shoot often enough to get as proficient as the gun deserves.

I live on a large pond small lake (2 - 3 acres of water) that is shaped like a pork chop (bone-in) in North Texas. The pond is shallow for the most part. 3 feet around the edges and 6-15 at the deepest part of the lake. The clarity is low with plenty of algae (about 1 to 1.5 feet visibility). The bottom is dark, blackish leaves that coat the bottom. There is no vegitation that I know of in the water. There are loads of sunfish, and shad. There are lots of 5-10 pound catfish.

I know there are large mouth in the water because I caught one on a small rubber shad. I have also been told be several neighbors that they have seen or caught some bigger 3-5lb bass in the past.

Based on this information, as the water warms, what lure should I be using. I have tried several different color jigs (red, blue/black, white, silver) without success. I have tried shallow running crank baits and some rattle trap lures without success. Thanks!

My brother-in-law has a two year old hunting dog that he finally is getting around to want to train. Is she too old for training? I can't remember what breed she is, but she's a beautiful dog and of a hunting breed of dogs. Is two years too late for her to learn waterfowl and pheasant retrieval?

I know this may seem like a dumb question but I am an idiot when it comes to firearms. I purchased a Sigma Smith & Wesson 9 mm SW9VE handgun about 6 month ago and go the range often and I love it. (click here to see--> http://web.quick.cz/terc/saw/sigma.jpg ). I have been looking at some .45 cal handguns to upgrade to and am just wondering which is more powerful and will have more of a blow to intruders/invaders when using for self defense/home protection? When I go to the range my 9mm sounds like a BB gun/Pellet Gun compared to the .45 cal the others shoot. If a .45 cal is better then a 9 mm which ones would you all suggest being that I love Smith & Wesson? I am open to try another market or brand of .45 cal handguns but want a dependable one that is not a revolver. It must be an automatic handgun. Any good answers to my questions or suggestions would be great. Any links to some that I can look at would be great also.

I have a very nice trophy mount that was left to me by my father after he passed away. This trophy fish was his pride and joy and I'm just wondering how I can take care of it and keep it in the best possible shape. The mount consists of the real skin and fins from the fish but the head was molded from foam. Any tips on cleaning the dust off and keeping this mount in great shape? Thanks in advance!

I was thinking about getting a break-barrel air rifle. But I'm having trouble on deciding what caliber I should get between the .177 at 1000fps, or a .22 at 800fps.I was thinking about getting the .177. But I'm not sure. Also,I'm mostly going to be hunting birds, maybe some squirrels there and then when they get in front of my house. Thanks

We drove to memphis to get this scope, spent around 600 dollars for it. Got it home tonight and he looked through it and there appears to be something inside the lens. Just a threadlike black squiggly line in the upper left quadrant. This couldn't be a crack!! And how could something have gotten inside the scope? We don't understand. What should we do, and can this be fixed?

Well being that I'm only 14 I can't own a gun but the 2 historical guns my Dad has is a newly bought M1 Garand that I have yet to shoot and a 1939 German Luger that was always in my family (my dads dad bought it after the 2nd world war in America). So what old historical guns do you have?
