Fan traditions and actions are what bring charm to a specific sports game. This is even truer for college sports. Whether it is the WE ARE… PENN STATE chant for Penn State football or the fans in Syracuse standing and clapping their hands at the beginning of each half until the basketball team hits their first shot… these bleacher traditions make the games more exciting.

What is your favorite Fan Traditions/Action for both college football and basketball?

Myself, I love the Notre Dame alma mater sing along at the end of games with the football team… even after a loss. I love the two traditions I listed above too. The Syracuse hand clapping thing is always fun.

People look at me like I said " I love to wear womens underwear" when I tell them that I compete in marathons, triathlons and other endurance sports.

Very rarely do I get a "good for you" or "Wow".

I dont get it.

I'm on varsity for cross country, but I'm still not a phenomenal runner. I run about a 20 minute 5k, so I consider my self pretty good, but it's not like I'll go to Regionals or any thing. I'm more concentrated on tennis, I play in tournaments where my record is 9-10 and I'm ranked 241 in the Mid Atlantic, and ranked 163 in Virginia. I was 8-5 as a freshmen in high school playing number 3 and 4 seed, where our team was third in the disrict. I can't decide if I want to quit Cross Country to have the chance to practice more and play more tournaments. What do you think?

In hockey, the examples that come to my mind are Alexandre Daigle and to a lesser extent Eric Lindros. And I'm not a football fan, but even I know about the infamous Ryan Leaf.

What are other examples of athletes who were seen as having incredible promise and fell horribly short?

I have had a catchers glove since december and i have been using it nonstop. It closes nicely but the pocket is not very deep so the ball bounces out quickly if i dont trap it. My other glove has a deep pocket but it is my coaches and he broke it in. How should I get a deeper pocket on my glove.

hi, I'm 45 - I had an injury?? in 2003 and I've been doing physical therapy since, and I think by next year ?? maybe 2 years - I should be doing well enough to start training to do some kind of sport. and I'm just curious what sport besides Golf (I know a bout that one) that a person can start in their mid 40's and do well enough at if they are good to support themselves - because I intend to do this for a living. somehow - not sure how... if that's what happens.
any ideas are appreciated. thanks
