hi, I'm 45 - I had an injury?? in 2003 and I've been doing physical therapy since, and I think by next year ?? maybe 2 years - I should be doing well enough to start training to do some kind of sport. and I'm just curious what sport besides Golf (I know a bout that one) that a person can start in their mid 40's and do well enough at if they are good to support themselves - because I intend to do this for a living. somehow - not sure how... if that's what happens.
any ideas are appreciated. thanks

Golf is probably the top answer in my book...because it requires precision and persistence rather than sheer power or agility...which naturally declines after the age of 30. It's also a sport that can be enjoyed well beyond that of other sports. Other comparable sports could be bowling, driving, etc.

Many people excell or reach their peak at some sports in middle age that require good cardiovascular endurance including long distance running...but I'd say it's difficulty to make a living doing that.

If golf doesn't interest you, perhaps you could look into coaching the sport you do enjoy? There is more than one way to get enjoyment out of our activities.

Good luck in your rehab.

Obvioulsy this depends on your abilities. To actually support yourself, good luck. thats gonna be tough. Poker isnt really a sport, but with a LOT of work and above average intellignece its possible. Unless you're a great athlete in some way though, kind of tough to think you will be able to make a living playing a sport at 45.
