In hockey, the examples that come to my mind are Alexandre Daigle and to a lesser extent Eric Lindros. And I'm not a football fan, but even I know about the infamous Ryan Leaf.
What are other examples of athletes who were seen as having incredible promise and fell horribly short?

Michael Vick, Gino Toretta, Charles White, Mike Rozier, Charlie Ward, Tim Couch, Andre Ware, Eric Crouch, Joey Harrington, Rick Mirer, Art Schlichter, Bo Kimble, Len Bias, Eddie Griffin, Andy Roddick, the Buffalo Bills, Mike Tyson, Anna Kournikova, Barbaro in horse racing... I could go on and on.
I guess you could throw in A-Rod, since he's never improved a team's performance no matter where he's been, Seattle, Texas or NYC... since 2000 I would say the Yankees. Period. I don't care how many AL East crowns they've won, they haven't won anything since 2000.
Roger Clemens this year, Brett Lindros, Shawn Bradley, Tonya Harding (LOL), yadda, yadda, yadda.

Just with the Seattle Seahawks, we have Rick Mirer, Dan McGwire, Brian Bosworth, and Koren Robinson. No team with only 30 years of history should have had to endure four colossal busts like those guys.
