People look at me like I said " I love to wear womens underwear" when I tell them that I compete in marathons, triathlons and other endurance sports.

Very rarely do I get a "good for you" or "Wow".

I dont get it.

Most folks are lazy, and can't conceive of anyone being anything but as lazy as they are. (we look for people like us)
That being said, the other reason for their looks and reactions is sheer jealousy. They are jealous that you can do, will do, and enjoy doing what they can not.

People don't like to give other people credit for doing amazing things. They know all the hard work that goes with all that and can't imagine the self discipline it takes. Most people are lazy, both in body and spirit, and they are jealous. Keep it up.

I don't do anything as long as that, but I get the same looks from people when I tell people I ran a 1/2 marathon. The only people that appreciate it are people who work out also and who are out there running with me.
