What is tai chi? Is it a form of martial arts? Is it connected to actual fighting? What's supposed to be so special about it? Why do I see older people doing it a lot? (not that they shouldn't; I just wonder)

I own my own martial arts school and I am getting into MMA matches. I am looking for some conditioning ideas. I do alot of running, lifting, and bag work. If you have any ideas that I could do by myself, I would appriciate it.

There's a perfect throw, and I feel like laughing. I don't know why, maybe because I thought it was fun, or I was scared and the fear goes away after getting thrown. (then it goes back and I'm laughing) Do you feel like that?

i've never refered to it this way (i just say round kick because it travels in a circular motion versus the straight motion of most other kicks). but why do some call it a roundHOUSE kick. is it because that movie that patrick swayze was in???

Did the Chinese and Japanese base Martial Arts on animals? Because most of the names are like animal names like the move kip-up in chinese its called the Carp Leap because it looks like when a fish jumps around when its on land.

This is a question for well built people but also for Martial Artists and boxers and the like.
I have seen many times on the TV when an interviewer or comedian is talking to people such as yourselves that they will often make a little joke then say " Don't hit me!" or "I'm not going to argue with you!
This annoys me (and I'm only 5' 3")
Why do they presume that you will not be able to just have a discussion if they disagreed with you?
You could be the sort of person who would dream of hitting someone if they made a joke or didn't agree with you.
When this happens, does it frustrate you as much as it does me?
