Keep up the good work i have a 7 year old son and i am teaching him jui jitsu (without the chokes) and karate he really loves it and he is very very good at it he learns so fast and takes it very seriously. I never push him he just loves to learn and even when i am at work he practise's his Kata in his room. I am a huge fight fan and we watch allot of fights together i am also a huge football fan and have tried to get him involved in other sports but all he wants to do is fight so all you can do is support them.

If he wanted to stop i wouldn't push him as long as he did some-other kind of sport anything to get the off the video games is good.

You need to talk to your children honestly. If the truly enjoy it, great, keep it up!
But if you sense that the competition is taking it's toll on them then it should cease.
Please remember that it is only a athletic match, a meaningless competition, the trophies are only plastic, the victories fade.
What they are doing is just a sport, a game. Nothing more nothing less.

If they like the workout but not the competition i than it may be time to move them to a martial art which teaches more than how to be a kickboxer. Things like honor, respect, self defense, a sense of confidence.

I am a martial arts instructor and my daughter goes to my school. It is very hard to be her instructor because I am Daddy (she is eight). If the coach pushes them hard I would be the encouraging, supporting, and loving father. If they still want to do it, let the coach do his job. If the coach is not providing enough discipline and motivation find a new one.

Have you sat down and asked them honestly how they feel about this sport. If they're all for it, well and good, they then know there will be losses and wins. If they don't enjoy it, let them try another sport.

ask them. find out if they continue because they enjoy the sport or if they continue because you want them to. If they don't enjoy it let them choose something else themselves

As long as they still enjoy doing it, then it's okay.

It's when they begin to hate it that it becomes a problem.
