You need to ask your instructor or sempai if your dojo has a "cheat sheet" or manual and can recommend some good books out in the world.
This is because different styles, and sometimes even dojos within a style will use different Japanese terminology for the same thing. And whilst one is in Rome, one must do as the Roman's do.
ps
To hear the words better, I got some learn Japanese tapes and cd's and listened to them several times. Often one can borrow them from the Library. Before I did this, I could not really even hear exactly what they were saying. Then the Japanese syllables began to make sense and I could hear them and pronounce them back.
ps:
re books. as a last resort this yahoo answer might help:
I used to do Sankukai until our club was pretty much forced into changing to Shotokan because Sankukai was becoming scarcer. Unfortunately I do not know of any books/DVDs but I found that buying Shotokan ones and speaking to my sensei about the differences between them (which aren't huge) to be sufficient for practical needs. Sorry I couldn't help more though, good luck with your search!

I am a brown and white belt in Shotokan Karate but the style can't be that different :
Low/shin kick - Kin Geri
Front kick - Mae Geri
Round kick - Mawashi Geri
Low block - Gedan Barai
High block - Jodan Uke
Step and punch - Chudan Oi Tsuki
Hope this helps and all the best for the grading.

Just buy a gun, it's way easier, and in most states you can conceal and carry.
