In my association they want your hands on the Bo at all times, but me and a freind have made up our own Bo Kata for demos and tournaments that we take our hands off it while its spinning in the air. We have had instructors all the time telling us that this kata is good but not traditional and therefore may not impress to many traditional martial artists. What do you think about this? Should it be allowed?

Maybe a martial arts female can help me. In a parking lot outside a concert, me and three friends got into a fight. And I got kicked dead on by another girl. The tip of her shoe got me right in the button, now its swollen and I get a sick feeling when I walk. I just want to know how long it will be like this, if there may be any permanent injuries and what helps to make the pain go away. Can't go to the hospital because I have no insurance and I know it will be mad expensive. Just looking for some FREE advice. Thanks.

I take American Karate and we teach a combination of japanese karate, korean karate, take downs, and Texas style boxing and i think that this is the best way to go for an actual street fight.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

My significant other is a black belt in karate (a very traditional style) and has belts in different Japanese weapons. He is also a high school teacher that teaches technology. I was just trying to get some good ideas on great gifts.

What will you do ?
Would you:
Start swinging back
Run
Kick him in the balls
or other?
I wouldn't do nothing. I would seriously not punch a naked person.

I've been into Martial arts almost all of my life. I've taken Tae kwon do, judo, hapkido and even wrestled a little. MMA is a sport I really want to get into. I consider myself a well rounded fighter and would like to get into the sport.
I'm 35 yeras old, but look years younger and feel it. I have been searching for ways to get into it, but most of the MMA websites don't give you the option to enter... Please, anyone....

what do you think? If he were to train as dedicated and focused like Tito Ortiz does for 6 months. Could he beat matt hughes 2 out of 3 times? BJ Penn's jiu jitsu is vastly superior to any other mma fighters.

i think he would dominate him on the ground

just my opinion

I dont plan on punching anybody, just wanted to know. Also, i hear a lot of things about having a good chin, but if a person is tough to knockout, is it because they were not hit hard enough or they were not hit in the right area?

I notice many martial artists have mullet. I'm wondering if it give them any power or special ability?

Why do I ask? because it's totally out of date and bad taste to sport a mullet. Yet Cikatic manage to scare young Hoost to death with his mean look, beer stomach, and mullet to win the first K-1 grand prix ever. Many other successful fighters such as Cro Cop, Masato, Kraus, and more have sport mullet at least once in their life time. Also it's very common among Kenpo/kempo and many other tourney of all kind. So may if it help then we all should grow a mullet? :-D

I am looking to buy a sword as a gift and I would like to find one like in the movie "Kill Bill". I'm sure that I cannot afford a very good one of authentic character. But if I can find one under $150.00 that would be great. However I do not know what type to look for specifically. Can someone please give me some suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

We have a 4, 5, 6 years old black belt, instructor who are as wide as their height, instructor who spend half class playing game that doesn't relate to training/martial arts in any way, yoga, and the list goes on.

What is the next? Martial arts that teach you how to cook? Martial arts school with buffet? Martial arts that teach you how to restraint animals? Art of throwing stone at blind moose? Do anyone have any idea?
