A ninja or a samurai

Hand to hand the Samurai will have a chance but the Ninja utalizes many weapons including throwing weapons and poison darts. The Ninja would not face the Samurai on his ground the Ninja would use the element of surprise and get the Samurai while he is unsuspecting.
Additioinal: How can we forget the best part about being a ninja. You get to wear your PJs. Makes it easier to get up early and just run out of the house.

Depends. The samurai were highly skilled swordsmen, arhcers and spearmen as well as hand to hand fighters.
The Ninja were more varied in their skills and had stealth techniques that the Samurai did not have, but they didn't have the specialized training that the Samurai did.
The Ninja also had weaopons that that the Samurai did not, (like the suriken). In a straight up duel the Samurai had the speed, but the Ninja had some defensive techniques that the samurai didn't when it came to swordplay. Even so, I would still have to go with the Samurai in a straight up duel, but the Ninja for stealth.
I think, in all honesty it would be a toss up. The ones won by skill for ther Samurai would be balanced by the ones won by the cunning of the Ninja.

Well, it depends on why which one is better. If you are going for a code, honor, integrity, I would say samurai. If you just want to do magic tricks and deception, then I would go with Ninja

samurai were specialists
ninja were jack of all trades.
overall the ninja would win based on his varied 'toolbox' of tricks and weapons. he had none of the hounour that the samurai did so would do whatever it took to win.
in a one on one though, watch out ninja.
then again, once chuck norris was born. they all became extinct

better at what? Today both of them are outdate so overall they suck.
On other hand if you're talking about 200 or 300 years ago... It depend on what you're asking.
