I've been into Martial arts almost all of my life. I've taken Tae kwon do, judo, hapkido and even wrestled a little. MMA is a sport I really want to get into. I consider myself a well rounded fighter and would like to get into the sport.
I'm 35 yeras old, but look years younger and feel it. I have been searching for ways to get into it, but most of the MMA websites don't give you the option to enter... Please, anyone....

I heard that Dana White the president of UFC goes to other fights to see if he sees anyone with potential
like Kenny Florian
Dana went to watch the guy Kenny was fighting but when Kenny won the fight he took Kenny instead
around my house every other month there are king of the cage fights so I would suggest you try and get into a smaller show and see what happens
good luck to you

Fernando ~
The UFC (Dana White) has scouts that go throughout the United States and Canada and looks for new talent. They (UFC) also excepts demo tapes. They (UFC) a very picky about the fighters that they give a fight by fight contract to, basically because they are the only big game in town right now, unlike boxing that has WBC, WBA, IBF.
Your best bet would be fighting in some smaller venues, go to Midwest MMA. com and they have upcoming events on their calendar. Do a couple of these fights and see if you like it or not and if you're any good word travels pretty fairly fast throughout the MMA world and it shouldn't be too long before you're noticed.
Good luck in your quest Fernando.

You need to establish your self as a strong amateur fighter, win win and win, go to bigger shows, King of the cage, put in your resume with organizations like that, what i would also do is consider moving to where a really good club or school is located so the people who have ties with the UFC can or might be able to hook you up if your any good or show potential, like going to iowa to train with the militech guys, go to Boca raton florida and train with american top team- you have to also compete with these guys at the gym cause its there dream to be the next ultimate fighter aswell
best advise= move to iowa or boca raton florida= these are the 2 hottest teams with the most publisity right now for the ufc,
eat and live to be a fighter if thats what you want then go do it don't just say you want it, do it

The simple answer is that they hold try-outs. There are guys who they know about and want on the show, but people do get in through the try-outs as well.

I'm not sure if they have already done them or not for season five.

Your best bet would probably to go over to MMA.tv and ask at their forums.

Most of the guys at those try-outs will be fighters with professional fights under their belts. I don't mean to say that in order to discourage you but I just wanted to put it out there.

A lot of the guys who end up on TUF shows are guys who would've ended up in the UFC anyway.

Forest Griffin for instance at already gained some attention among MMA fans in his loss to Jeremy Horn at an IFC show.

To put it in perspective prior to TUF Griffin had fought and lost to Dan Severn and Jeremy Horn. He had also fought and beaten Jeff Monson and Chael Sonnen. Not everyone going into the show has a resume like Griffin, but the guys who get picked tend to be decent professional fighters.

I think Schanez had one of the titles in KOTC (one of more well known "B" level shows) prior to TUF.

If you really want to get on TUF the best bet is training at an MMA gym, having some professional fights, and then going to the tryouts for one of the later seasons.

Actually, after re-reading your post I'm not sure if by "The Ultimate Fighter Series" you mean the reality show (TUF) or the actual UFC. I'll answer both.

If you want to get into the UFC? Then the answer is very simple. Start fighting in smaller organisations. Be good. Sending tapes and training with a good MMA team would help as well. But, in order to get into the UFC proper you just have to fight and be good. That's harder than it sounds.

Well I am not sure. Maybe go to the Spike TV website they might tell you something about it. or the UFC one. I read something about the audition processes once. They said all types show up for it. Good Luck
