I take american Karate and I have been to 2 Karate tournaments but they were both closed circuit where it is only my association competing so i know what moves to watch for. But this one is open and all types are welcome. so are there any types that i should really watch out for? If so what kind of moves?

Be it known that there are many types of contact Karate and forms to watch out for. Anticipation is best to react to your opponent and not by mental infliction...it's automatic and you respond.

When your opponent contracts you react and when you react it contracts.

A selfless form of response becomes automatic...don't wait for it to happen, it happens all by it self in response.

You want points, but points come at the moment of impact. A self taught player cannot read his next move, it is automatically responded by training and how well you are condtioned. They would not know what you will do. They do not know how you will respond to a form or technique thrown at you because you will respond with total force in so many directions that it will confuse your opponent as to what you are doing. Confusion stalls applications and then your reponse is contact and points.

I have conditioned my body unlike anything told in a book or story untold.
My methods of Martial Arts is uncomphrensible to any one form.

well it depends what color belt you are.
only black has full contact rules.
Most tournaments are in a full control environment so the attacks will not be full force or contact.
It will be a points system, not by knockout.
If you are black belt and have a full contact tournament you would know what to look out for!
People will be going for your head and face to try for that lustious knockout.
Being a former umpire and 7th dan black belt i have been to many of these events as a fighter, a coach, and an umpire.
The rules vary. I am a former 3 x world champion with I.S.K.A and the rules are very strict, not that people abide by them. If someone breaks any of the rules they will be suspended and disqualified from the event.
Never take your eyes from your opponent and watch his eyes only. this is the passageway into his mind and heart and you will know where he is going to strike you!
Goodluck!
