Is this something that is only done in certain arenas or under certain circumstances? I'm from a non-hockey background, but have been getting into it more and more and was just wondering. Thanks!

The Pens are such a exciting team and are starting to play a full 60 minute hockey game. With the fire power they have and the ability to turn it on at any given minute who would be willing to face them in the 1st round? If the Pens lose in the first round the team that beats them might not be able to recover to play good in round two. I think they are dangerous and teams are hoping not to play them in the 1st round at least. Who else agrees and if you don't give a good reason why not?

Why do goalies always fight each other instead of fighting with other players? Is it because of the pads they are wearing?

Alright, here it is: I'm 14, a goalie, female, and on a 19U girls district bound team. As of yesterday, I am the main goalie. The other goalie (19 years old) has no commitment to the team and has only showed up twice and somehow got to play more then me and I have been there. Coach told me yesterday that from here on out I will be the goalie whether or not the other shows up. I know the girls are happy about this because the other one is a real female dog (excuse my language). Therefore, I have a huge support team (most of the girls are 17, 18).

So, my questions: How to I have confidence in myself when everyone around me does (coaches, players, and parents)? How should I train to keep in top shape? I don't get to get on the ice but once a month, so everyday I do 160 up-downs and have 150 pucks thrown at me. What can I do for hand-eye coordination? Strenght? Anything?

Please, I am so nervous about this and districts are the end of February. Eek! Please help me!!

Isn't it just a bunch of guys skating around an ice rink while trying to hit a tiny puck into a net?

What other possible skills or strategy is even required to play this game? It's just random movements by a bunch of clumsy skaters trying to hit that puck into a net by luck.

Hey, tic-tac-toe is a game, but you don't see people calling THAT a "sport." Hockey is a game, IF that.

People, there's a reason why NHL ratings are down and why hockey is on the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to popularity on a worldwide scale.

I think that since the salary cap has been implemented, Mr. Big Bucks can't freely spend money in an attempt to buy a Stanley Cup. Therefore, the Dead Things will go to where they belong, the cesspool of hockey. Darkness with Harkness II.

...the top five media markets in the United States would not have a team in the playoffs (Houston doesn't have a team).
How does Gary Bettmann expect the NHL to gain a foothold in the United States when the biggest markets in the United States have lousy teams? In the case of Los Angeles and Chicago, this has lasted for years and decades respectively. Why does Bettmann keep banging his head against the wall?
