The Pens are such a exciting team and are starting to play a full 60 minute hockey game. With the fire power they have and the ability to turn it on at any given minute who would be willing to face them in the 1st round? If the Pens lose in the first round the team that beats them might not be able to recover to play good in round two. I think they are dangerous and teams are hoping not to play them in the 1st round at least. Who else agrees and if you don't give a good reason why not?

I don't agree. They are fun to watch, but everyone is hoping to play them.
Right now they are in a 3 way tie for the last playoff spot in the East. So, everyone would want to finish first and play them. Right now that is Buffalo, and they would likely finish them in 5 games and continue on to round 2 well rested.

Playoffs are different than regular season. You study your opponent and test your strategy at practice. There isn't time to do as much in regular season. Pittsburgh is the classic one line team that always gets knocked out early. Who is their top scorer not on the first line? Oullette - number 6 in their scoring list, with 1/3 the points of Sidney. Oulette is not on the top 100 scorers. Teams just put their top checkers on against the top line, and have their scoring lines take charge otherwise. Pittsburgh penalty kill is currently 22 in the league, and 4th in penalty minutes. So teams that can't take charge only have to take advantage of their power play. That is also a classic Playoff result, just have a great power play and do well.

Now their likely opponent, Buffalo has scoring spread over 3 lines.

My Leafs will not see them in the first round because they will finish 7th and 8th respectively but I feel we can beat Pittsburgh because the Leafs always play tough and hit hard and that will wear out a less physical team such as the Penguins. How many years have the Leafs put out the high scoring Senators? Just ask Alfredsson if we play tough(if you can get him to stop peddling that friggin exercise bike). Trust me no team wants to play us. We will be like the Oilers were last year. Squeak into the playoffs then surprise everyone. Wait and see.

If Pitt. makes the playoffs they would be the real wild card. There are definitely other teams I would rather not face if I had a choice. NJ, Ottawa, and Buffalo would all be really tough in the first round. Where as Pitt is young but very talented. However they dont have too much experience in the playoffs. It's a totally different kind of pressure. It would be interesting to see how it is handled.

They'll get steam rolled by anyone if they don't make a move or two at the deadline. They need atleast one solid scoring winger to pair with either sid or malkin, and they also need a good solid right handed d-man. Getting eaton back will help a ton, but I just think they need another good d-man. If they can add a few peices to the puzzle and fluery gets hot at the right time then there is no reason why they couldn't upset a few teams.

I wouldn't mind seeing them play buffalo to be honest with you. The pens always seem to hold there own against them. I just dont want to seem them play New Jersey for a couple reasons. 1. Brouduer, 2. New Jersey always beats us!!!

its not a query of being the right age, its a query of time. As in Pittsburgh will on no account be interior the playoffs long sufficient for them to improve beards. don't get me incorrect, the Pens are a solid youthful team with a super form of room to improve. yet a veteran team with extra desirable goaltending and protection like New Jersey or Buffalo, will beat them in a 7 interest sequence. dangle on until eventually finally next 12 months toddlers, and additionally you will see some beards on those faces.

They are dangerous BUT I am not sure I would be as worried about them. They are young and somewhat inexperienced. Although alot of the bigger names on the team were either in the AHL Playoffs with the Baby Pens last year or have been in playoffs.

Defense will be their biggest question mark. I dont think will be in that bad of shape after the 1st round because the Pens arent an overly physical team.....they can score, but its not like they're going to beat you into submission or anything.

Like the guy above stated. Pens have one strong line, and 2 very weak lines. Hockey is about balance, and they ****** that up, hence why their stuck in a 3 way tie for last spot in east.

Best bet would be the Buffalo Sabres. Although the Penguin's youth is unmatched. They have a great young future and a great goalie. Sidney Crosby is one of the best hockey players in the NHL.

They are fun to watch because they make mistakes that make em fun. Oilers early 80s were fun to watch but had to mature and wise up before winning it all. Playoff hockey does not allow the mistakes the Pens will make.
