Without a doubt Crosby is the overall better player.
He as only 5 less goal than Ovechkin and has literally taken half the shots Ovechkin has.

Crosby has more of a complete understand of the game when it comes to where to be on offense at all times. He leads the NHL in assists.

Ovechkin is just a speedy goal scoring threat who gets a lot of opportunities.

Crosby is a better player. Ovechkin is a great player also and led all rookies with points last year on one of the worst teams last year. they will be both toe to toe throughout there careers and they'll both have unbelievable careers. yes Crosby is leading the league in points. Ovechkin is more of a Peter Forsberg type player that has to work a little extra hard to get the job done, and we all know what that leads to injuries. as for Crosby he has a great hockey sense and is always at the right spot at the right time just as the "Great One" was. there both young and will get to see some great hockey from this two kids. Ovechkin loves the game with all his heart and when he and Crosby score they look like little kids having the time of their lives. But when it comes down to it Crosby will be the top of them two but Ovechkin will be right behind him.

Zubey>>>>Ovechkin is turining 22 this year in September.

I would say Ovechkin because in my opinion he is a better hitter. He plays more of a Cam Neely, Wendel Clark type of game. He is almost as good as Crosby in scoring but plays with a bit more of an edge. This would be a close race. I would say out of 100 it would be Ovechkin 51, Crosby 49.

I've got to go with Crosby. Normally I dont put as much stock in NHL assists because they give you 2 assists per goal, but Crosby has proven that he is just as much a scorer as he is a setup man. I like Ovechkin's physical play, but if I had to choose between the 2, it would be Crosby

Sidney Crosby. Don't get me wrong Alex is a great player but he reminds me of Bure, he's fun to watch but he will burn out just like Pavel did. Crosby is a smart player who has an eye for the game, and i think he is a smarter player who understands the game better.

Yes they are both talented players and will be around the league for a long time.

But Ovechkin is better. He has more speed, better skills and is more of a goal scorer than Crosby. Ovechkin takes hits and dishes them out. He does respect other players (unlike a previous answer stated) and makes his teammates better!

I'm obviously biased because I live in Pittsburgh, so I'm going to say Crosby will be the better overall player. Don't get me wrong Ovie is and will be an impact player for years to come. I just don't seem him as being as good as Crosby will be. Crosby reminds me a lot of Gretzky and Lemieux where as he will most likely be a factor in ever single game he plays. I see Ovie as more of a Pavel Bure type of player. Where he will score a ton of goals and get his fair share of assists, just not be as productive overall as Sid. It's really hard to explain, but those are my opinions on the matter.

Hopefully they both will tear it up in the league for a long long time.
